Beauty and the streets

Two of my favorite lady artists, Martha Rich and Esther Pearl Watson, are leaving LA tomorrow on a cross-country road trip to interview people about beauty. They’ve just posted their itinerary, which includes dozens of cities across the U.S. as well as Paris, because really, what is a beauty road trip without a trans-Atlantic detour to examine the scarf-tying methods of Frenchwomen.

I got to see the art world’s Thelma and Louise last weekend and they told me that in addition to suggestions for beauty-ful destinations along the way—like, perhaps there is a Museum of the Curling Iron in Georgia that cannot be missed (bet you $20 there is)—they also need interview subjects. And that means you, says Martha:

If we come through your town call us to set up an interview and you could be part of the multi-media exhibition we are producing. DO IT. Email me at martha AT martharich.com for more information. Groovy!

Martha’s also kicked her daily painting project Freedom Wig back into full gear and promises to try and post as many as she can from the road. You can stay up-to-date and score some sweet makeup application tips on their Beauty Road Trip blog. May their cars get excellent gas mileage and may every breakfast be extra greasy.

cool. they’ll be in kansas city on september 10. think they’d want to interview a pure “chapstick & mascara” girl? :) i’ll have to keep up with them & see what they have in store that day.
