Hey there! My name is Alissa. I’m a writer, a gelato-eater, and a walker in LA.
You can learn more about who I am, what I write, why I walk, and even see where I live and work. Last year I was honored to be named as an USC/Annenberg Getty Arts Journalism fellow. You also might like this talk I gave about how to do the work you love.

- @souris @ljoliet So cute! I think we've come around to possibly investing in Tolix!
- @LangeAlexandra So cute! (and not wrong at all!)
- Pretty sure I need these Marimekko Chuck Taylors for all my walking needs http://t.co/RXPABleX cc @LangeAlexandra
- @souris @ljoliet I think Tolix are a little too "French bistro" for us. Or maybe I'm just saying that because we can't afford them!
- Looking for metal (powder-coated?) chairs for our new outdoor dining table. Can be old or new. Any ideas where to buy in LA? @Ljoliet?
Come say hello

For the last few months, GOOD has been taking on a challenge per month in an attempt to live better. It’s like performing an experiment on ourselves. Can we avoid using chemical-laced shampoo? Can we live without processed foods? (Before you … Continue reading

Sidewalk dining
I’m face-to-the-desk working this weekend to finish up a few big projects after a particularly busy week. This is, of course, making this perfect pre-summer weather almost unbearable. But I was able to squeeze in a walk to Silver Lake … Continue reading

South by so long
It has taken me so long to recover from the madness of this year’s SXSW—and specifically, this stuffed avocado—that I had to wait an entire three weeks to write about it. You’ve probably heard already about the overcrowding and overcommercialization … Continue reading

GOOD Design Bay Area is tonight!
I had to escape LA’s record-and-thermometer-shattering heat, so I headed to San Francisco yesterday…which was a steamy (for SF) 84 degrees! But I’m also here to moderate one of my favorite events, GOOD Design Bay Area! I was thrilled to … Continue reading
